Ernest Jones launches new traceable Origin collection

An Ernest Jones ring from the new traceable Origin collection

With decades of diamond experience and knowledge of quality and craftsmanship; the UK's favourite high-street jeweller, Ernest Jones has launched its exclusive new traceable collection; Origin by Ernest Jones. With fully traceable, responsibly sourced natural diamonds hand-crafted in recycled platinum or 18-carat gold made with renewable energy, it's set to lead the way in trust and transparency.

Like all Ernest Jones diamonds, each one in this collection is conflict-free and responsibly sourced. The difference? Customers can track and trace their diamond’s unique journey from its origin so that they can be fully confident in where it came from.

Using state-of-the-art blockchain technology, customers will be able to access their diamond’s digital passport whenever they like, showing its fully traceable, authenticated journey, it even records every time it changes hands and crosses borders, so just like our own love stories, every ring has its unique tale to tell.

Every rough diamond in the collection is assigned a unique identification number that captures the diamond’s unique characteristics, and for peace of mind, each ring comes with its own biodegradable GSI certificate that records its individual qualities including the cut, colour, clarity and carat.

As a member of the World Diamond Council and a founding and certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council, Ernest Jones is a proud pioneer of responsibly sourced natural diamonds. It partners with long-standing, trusted suppliers to implement best-practice sourcing standards and 75% of the materials used in Origin by Ernest Jones packaging are recycled, with a goal to make this 100% recycled and recyclable in the very near future.

Gemma Balm, head of product and trading at Ernest Jones tells us, “I’m so excited about the launch of Origin by Ernest Jones. It’s a big step forward for us and the Signet group as a whole. As a founding and certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council, we’re proud pioneers of responsibly sourced natural diamonds and the collection is an extension to our already responsibly sourced diamond ranges at Ernest Jones.

The collection consists of classic solitaires, design-led halo engagement rings and beautiful diamond eternity rings. Each one is hand-crafted in recycled platinum or gold, which is also fully traceable, and made in a factory using renewable energy.

Leading the way to a more sustainable future, we’re proud to be the first UK retailer to bring fully traceable diamonds using state-of-the-art blockchain technology to its high-street stores and we can’t wait to see how our customers react to this trailblazing collection.”

Now more than ever, we’re all looking to move towards a more transparent future and that includes making a conscious effort to know more about the origins of the things we buy.
